Galactic Runtz

Galactic Runtz is a cross between Falcon 9 ( Sunset Sherbert x Tina) and Runtz ( Zkittles x Gelato). It was bred by the super creative Exotic Genetix team who is responsible for strains like Grease Monkey and Strawberries and Cream. Luckily for us, Sonoran Roots brought these to the Valley. However, for a strain like this I personally would do everything humanly possible to make sure that when I presented it to people, it was at its absolute best. If you asked me, that was not the case with this batch of Galactic Runtz . For starters, I would get rid of the plastic tubes and switch to mylar bags. The reason for this is because as you smell the buds while they are in the container, you get more of a plastic smell than anything. It smelled like all plastic with a touch of Runtz.

PRESENTATION AND FRESHNESS

As I removed the buds, the first thing I noticed was how moist they still were. They were moist enough that if they were stored in a sealed mylar bag, there is no doubt they would have developed mold. Seeing as Ponderosa still offers deli style, jarring up that weed with that much moisture kind of makes sense. I would assume that they may did that to account for how many times they will be opening and closing that jar throughout that strains time on the self. Either way, the extra moisture made the bud almost impossible to break down and for the blunt to stay lit. For the freshness I had to give it at 3.5. Yes the weed was extremely fresh but, it was too fresh if you asked me.

SMELL

Once I was able to get it broken down, I could really smell the sweetness of the Galactic weed Runtz more than anything. Behind that sweetness, were very light hints of gas. The combination of the two reminded me of those freeze dried rosin Skittles that Rosin Bell makes. At that point, my main goal was to get that blunt rolled without drooling all over it and myself. That alone was harder than breaking down the weed. Even while in a Backwood, the sweetness of the Runtz still had a heavy presence. There was absolutely no reason this strain deserved nothing less than a 5 in the smell category. Galaxy runtz strain

TASTE AND HIGH

The moment I sparked the blunt, my taste buds were flooded with sweet and candied terps. Not only did this strain smell like Skittles but every hit I took tasted like I put a handful in my mouth. Unlike when I broke it down, there were no signs of gas to be found flavor wise as I smoked it. By the time I got to the halfway mark, I was unbelievably high. At that point I could have stopped smoking the blunt and saved the rest for another time. However, seeing as the smoke was so smooth and flavorful made it impossible to do so. By the time I finished the entire blunt, I was more fried than a bucket of extra crispy chicken from Popeyes. The taste also lingered in my mouth well after the blunt was gone. This strain definitely deserved its 5’s in both the taste and the high category.

All in all, this strain was amazing. I could not call it a grand slam but feel comfortable saying it was a home run. I think what is keeping it from being a grand slam in the moisture content. Again, this strain was just a little too moist for me. I could only imagine what those terps could really do given a little bit more time to dry and cure. All in all, I would have to say that these are some of the best Runtz I have ever smoked. They definitely go in my top 3 along with the Space galactic Runtz grown by Tru| Med, and the last batch of  galactic Runtz that Grow Sciences recently dropped. I hope Sonoran Roots keeps this strain in their lineup and continues to improve its overall quality, and look forward to giving it another run sometime in the future.
